Disney Gender Roles Deconstructed

I came across one of the photos linked here via Feminocracy and decided to check out the rest of the original post at Sociological Images.

They made me chuckle a little bit but I also couldn't deny how disturbingly accurate the commentary is.

  1. I like Disney movies since I grew up with them as a child and always did believe in the "happily ever after" crap but this was an interesting summation of the heroines. I will say that I disagree slightly with the comments about Ariel and Belle since I feel that they were stronger individuals than many of the earlier girls. Arial always wanted to be human, even before seeing the prince. Belle sacrificed her entire life (basically) for her father without the knowledge of what would actually happen.
