Take Back the Night Calgary and Market Collective are issuing a call for artists for a month-long showing in February 2011 titled BODY / IMAGE. The event will showcase art from all visual fields, including projection work.
Art will hang on the walls of the Marquee Room (612 - 8 Ave SW Calgary) for the whole month of February. Additionally, select pieces will get extra exposure through the Market Collective event during one weekend in February (date to be determined). Both are high traffic spaces and well known and respected in Calgary's arts community. This is a great opportunity to showcase and/or sell your work.
The theme of the show is beyond the female body - exploring the struggles and power of womanhood. It's about advocating for a positive self-image and evoking the importance of feminism in its many forms. Naturally, the theme is up for interpretation by the artist.
