A Shocking T-shirt?

Diagram labels: Depth Gauge, Awe, Shock

So, a friend of mine came over last night wearing this t-shirt. When I realized what it was, I said to him, "Dude, you know I'm a feminist, right?!" Then he looked all sheepish and was like "... yeah."

Anyhow, I'm not really sure what to think of this shirt, I just knew it somehow irked me. Even though I don't find it overly offensive (because I don't think its inherently sexist) it still bugged me. I think more than anything it's the name - "The Shocker." Maybe if this "technique" was called something else, it might be cool. After all, this is essentially a diagram of how to pleasure a woman, right? So in that sense it's cool... I just don't like the name. Maybe we can rename it to "The Handy Dandy" - I like that one better!

  1. I liked your viewpoint! Not to offend any one but the shirt’s ultra lame. However I don't know if I'm exactly offended by it either. I think alpha males and the like get a kick out of promoting their fave techniques for whatever reason; maybe it’s to prove to one another that they have some sort of trained skill; a certificate, per se. Personally, I’d feel pretty stupid walking around with a certificate stapled to my t-shirt... I think it’s a cheap way to get noticed and it’s not particularly liberating to see instructional guides to my vadge on the chests of dudes who actually think of this stuff as funny or witty or whatever.

On the other hand, I want to be certain that some women enjoy this “move” and therefore have no problem seeing some guy display it on his t-shirt? I haven’t ever felt inclined to walk around with a t-shirt that explained how to give a hand job, but I like to think that’s because my tastes call for a little more intellectual engagement. I would say that from my own feminist perspective I’m mildly put off by the whole thing but also, by the standards of my personal tastes, it’s just “bandwagon-y and unoriginal.

  2. Oh my goodness - you would never see a t-shirt with instructions on how to give a hand job or blow job. It seems that the vagina is an open target for offensive/stupid t-shirts - but the penis is somehow off-limits. Lame.

  3. Even if there was a t-shirt on how to give a hand job or blow job, it would mostly suggest that sexually empowered women are merely hoover vacuums with the capability of plugging themselves in and marketing their ability to do so.

I also agree with the bandwagony and unoriginal thing. It's worse that "porn star" t-shirts, tackiness in a bad way.

  4. It strikes me as an ironic t shirt, which is weird. Is the irony that such a disgusting thing as anal stimulation would not actually please a woman? Or that to please a woman is so gross (eww, cunningulis!) that who would love it so much to ave a shirt about it?

    I don't know. I just don't get it.
